Traditional Batik Canting & Coloring Workshop

Discover the beauty of Dubai Batik Studio's signature experience inspired by traditional Malaysian batik-making Techniques. 

Batik is a traditional fabric-making technique that involves applying wax-resistant dye to cloth. This method allows artisans to create intricate and colorful patterns. The technique has a long history in the Malay region and is particularly renowned in Indonesia and Malaysia. Batik’s origins can be traced back to ancient times, with the art form evolving over centuries to incorporate a variety of designs and methods.

Attendees will immerse themselves in the art of Batik Canting, with a focus on wax resist and layering, which offers a more intricate and hands-on experience. 
 
This session introduces participants to the traditional art of canting: drawing with melted wax using a special pen-like tool. Once the wax outlines are drawn, participants use vibrant fabric dyes to layer colour and complete their artwork. This technique teaches patience, precision, and creativity.

All materials are provided, including:

* Malaysian canting tools
* Hot wax setup
* Fabric canvas
* Textile dyes
* Brushes and palettes
* Color mixing and layering guides

Fees include:

1 Canvass of Batik Artwork to take home
1 Specialty drink and Pastry from the Co Chocolat Cafe.
